Massie Heritage Center is an excellent place to learn about the history of Savannah. It is also very enlightening to find out information behind the current architecture and layout of the downtown area. I really enjoyed the 3-D model of the historic district.

There is enough here to keep both adults and kids interested for a couple of hours. The full sized classroom allows you to try on period costumes and take pictures. You can also learn about the history of the building and its various purposes. I enjoyed my time here and it is highly recommended.
Nice museum, the staff are all friendly and helpful. Great for kids as the exhibits offer many interactive and engaging opportunities for children to interact with. It is a smaller museum so it will not take you too long to do and still allow you to explore Savannah. Staff also offer more information about the exhibits and answer any questions.

The tour was a little longer than I expected, but Bob was the best guide I've ever had. Retired and volunteering only on Mondays and Wednesdays (if I remember correctly), he has a passion for the history of the city. This really shines through and makes the tour very enjoyable!
