Part of the historic district of Savannah, this house will not disappoint. The architecture is still simply impeccable. Cudos to the Historic Society for saving this house from being torn town. You've got to see the staircase!!!
Beautiful house!! But go to groupon to buy tickets ( I bought my $7 for 2 people) because otherwise your paying too much for the kind of tour, information and what you see/ learn. The tour guide does not talk about/ know much about the architecture.
We had the best tour yesterday. Sheena was an exceptional guide and she recommended the Treylor Park for lunch where we had one of the best meals of our lives!
Beautifully restored historic home of significance on Savannah's Columbia Square. Isaiah Davenport was a Master builder who moved to Savannah from Rhode Island in 1808. He built his Georgian/Federal Colonial Home in 1820 when he participated in the restoration and redevelopment of central Savannah following a devastating fire. When the property was threatened to be demolished in 1954/55, it gave impetus to the founding of the Historic Savannah Foundation which has been instrumental in the preservation of Savannah's rich heritage.
Found a good deal on Groupon, $7 for 2 people’s admission. Definitely worth the $7 to see the original structure and staircase, but would not pay more than $10 to enter. Friendly staff. Not many original pieces. Mostly notorious for the exterior structure and architecture, so going inside may not even be necessary.
