My review is not from a room stay standpoint but it is from a "business to business" standpoint. Kudos to the front office manager, Maria, for her willingness to assist after students from my department stayed in Savannah to present research at a conference as representatives from our university. She was very professional in hearing my request for consideration and helpful in accommodating my students charges. Wow, such quality customer service is hard to come by these days. Though it is expected in the hospitality field, it still needs to be noted when it is WONDERFUL AND PROFESSIONAL
The one downside to the visit was the moldy shower curtain. Would I stay there again? Probably. Would I recommend it? Yes, but the recommendation would come with a few buts.
The location is convenient and the price is good. After catching a flight to Savannah, my partner and I took an approximately 20-minute ride on the local CAT bus ($5 per person). The bus driver was friendly and asked each group of passengers where they were going, so that he could ensure that they were being dropped off at the most convenient stop.
I was traveling with family and two dogs. I was amazed that the doggie room did not reek of its previous occupants. This Best Western does a wonderful job of making you feel your pets are welcome (and not making you feel you have to live with the reminder of previous pets.) I had some concerns about staying right downtown, but it was fine. And we were within walking distance of a great place to have dinner. Not much to look at from outside, but don't let first impressions fool you. This was a well-kept hotel and we would stay there again.
There was a mini fridge in the room (strangely it was installed in the bathroom... probably because it’s noisy), and USB/power ports galore! We had no problem charging our many tech gadgets.
The breakfast was very good and the wait staff was awesome.
The front desk, concierge, and breakfast staff were awesome. The rooms were nicely decorated, but the toilets had hard water rings and dark mold at the rim of the toilet, to me that’s a killer. The toilet was sad, but the hotel is fine other than that.
Location is excellent. Breakfast and staff excellent. Hotel has another hotel going up in front of it and this caused for much work noise , dust and construction. Room air conditioner was not working well. Conditioner was not taking moisture out of room. Seeing we used this site for mainly rest from site seeing air conditioner and rest were high on our list.
The room came with two beds, a decent A/C unit, and surprisingly, a white noise machine. It didn’t take long for us to realize that the noise machine was supplied to help drown out the noise from the busy road that the hotel faces. We had no trouble sleeping during our one-night stay.
Anyway, the CAT let us off about a block from the hotel; very convenient. We arrived hours before our check-in time, but the front desk employee was kind enough to store our bags while we explored the area. When we returned, we were greeted by another equally courteous employee, who returned our bags and checked us in.
