Trying three times during the week to make Saturday night reservations should indicate a desire to secure booth seating. So when we arrived early and saw three empty wall booths, it was a surprise that we had to wait on a special list with more than seven names on it. Wanting to eat, we were sat at a small table in the middle of the isle, and as you might guess from my rating, this didn't work out. Our server was perfect, and the food was good (albeit rather small portions and overpriced), but the policy of no reservations accepted on weekends while we were repeatedly bumped while seeing three empty booth tables during our meal did not sit well with us. The final straw was being bumped over an over again from staff and guests, while we tried to eat. Not a good policy, and not a good experience because of it.
Had a short wait on the weekend and it was well worth it! Everything we had was wonderful and done perfectly. We had the lobster and shrimp roll for an app and sea bass and tuna for entrees and they were all great. Service was spot on as well. Classy place! Will visit again if ever in Savannah.
We started with the chive mussels which were prepared perfectly. I went with the steak and squid ping on the recommendation of the server...I was leaning towards scallops but she said the squid was excellent. She was right... Excellent food, great staff.
After growing up eating some of the finest food in the world all my life in New Orleans, it's a rare treat indeed to stumble on such a find. My wife and I took a day trip to Savannah and were steered to Chive Sea Bar by a local. The food was nothing less than exquisite. And the service impeccable.

Bad policy, but great service & good food.
Absolutely FANTASTIC! We sat at the bar to eat and drink, and the bartender (and all the staff) was amazing too. I got the Red Clover drink which was delicious. Then we got a lot of starters and apps to share. Everything was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection! The Scallop Ping was our favorite meal of the evening (we could have eaten about 15 of them). They were like butter; PERFECTION! We also got the Oyster Rockefeller (which was a special), the She Crab Soup, Steak Ping, Beef Carpaccio, and Tuna Tartar. The Steak Ping was local beef and we could cut it with a butter knife, that's how tender it was. Not to mention the perfect grill and temp of the steak *drooling*. If you want something classy, great ambiance, and the BEST food in Savannah, check them out!
