Nice meal and good service. I recommend the chicken with honeyed carrots.
My wife and I went for Restaurant week, I was concerned about 22 Square because of a few poor reviews particularly of the items I preselected, but we were both delighted with the dinner Friday evening. Both had the Scallop, Grapefruit Brulee appetizer and it was great, nice sized and tasty. We both had the Pork Tenderloin and it was a surprisingly large portion and also tasted very nice, we both concurred. Finally we both had the Espresso Creme Brulee which was done to perfection! The meal was simple but very tasty.
Hostess was snobbie and unfriendly. Portions were too small. I have a little appetite and the chicken was miniscule. Had to ask for bread to feel full. Dinner was great for a person on a diet... no carbs at all. Waitress took all dishes away and I was left eating bread without a bread dish to place it on. Left remaining bread directly on the table Would NEVER return here. Decided to get dessert elsewhere. Have to give one star. Deserves none. Stay AWAY!
But we came to eat and that was a great success.
First time eating here for restaurant week. The dining room is very intimate, large window facing the square. Food is locally sourced and extremely fresh. Drinks are seasonal and taste great. Everything was cooked perfectly, some dishes lacked seasoning but still tasted perfectly cooked and fresh.
The food and the service is great!
I wish I could compliment the ambiance as well but the noise level is not to my liking - with all the hard surfaces it is extremely noisy and there is nothing that can be done about that. Apparently designers these days think it is the thing to do to hype up the customers, the more noise they think the better the time they are having. I don't buy into that. If I can't carry on a conversation it is a negative for the occasion. But more restaurants are like that, Pacci, Florence, etc..
