Since Ameris Bank took over Coastal Bank it has been one messed up situation. I am 73 years old, have done business with Bank South that was sold to Coastal Bank, and had nothing but polite people to deal with. When I opened my account i was told it was a seniors account and I would not have to pay a maintenance fee. Americs Bank told control and for the last two billing statements I have been charged $6.00 for each month for a total of $12.00. This is a direct deposit by the US Government and will take a little time to be processed, but you can bet you farm that I will close the account and advise any others I talk with who have accounts with Ameriis to do the same.Malcolm O'Connell
As Coastal bank they were great, but Ameris wants to charge fees for everything, slow service, don't answer phones, long lines,long waits. Really thinking of switching. Miss my old small bank and friendly tellers.
The ATM tech is very outdated. They need a machine that accepts cash and check deposits without using envelopes that gives immediate deposit information. Their customer service phone process is to complicated just to reach a specific institution directly even though you call that branches number! Lots of delay! Direct deposits don't offer the benefit of being available for the weekend if deposit scheduled for Monday morning. I'm truly thinking about changing banks!
